INDIANAPOLIS – The calm, beautiful and unseasonably warm and enjoyable weather this week here in central Indiana is simply the calm before Sunday’s storm.
Mike Petraglia
01/27/2012 - 2:04pm
FOXBORO –  Go ahead. Admit it. You’re a Patriots fan and you’re scared to death of the Giants defensive line. Fully healthy, they appeared ready and primed to repeat their devastation of four years ago.
Mike Petraglia
01/20/2012 - 3:09pm
FOXBORO – Robert Kraft is right. Bill Belichick is the best coach in the history of the NFL. Simple. No question.
Mike Petraglia
01/13/2012 - 2:03pm
FOXBORO -- Logan Mankins was almost offended by the mere suggestion.
Mike Petraglia
01/06/2012 - 4:36pm
I’m going to miss the Jets in the playoffs this January. And you should, too.
Mike Petraglia
12/30/2011 - 4:40pm
FOXBORO -- Chill, people. Tom Brady will be fine going into the playoffs.
Mike Petraglia
12/23/2011 - 8:00am
FOXBORO – Don’t worry, Patriots fans -- the defense won’t matter. I’m here to tell you that the team has learned from the last two years and the playoff losses to the Ravens and Jets.
Mike Petraglia
12/16/2011 - 1:58pm
I remember telling people over and over again last year that Glen Davis held the key to the Celtics’ hopes in the playoffs against LeBron, D-Wade and the Heat.
Mike Petraglia
12/09/2011 - 12:31pm
Remember when the Bruins were routinely written off as a distant fourth in the popularity race among Boston teams? Some would even joke in the days of Dave Lewis (2006-07 season) that they had fallen behind the Revolution. Not anymore.
Mike Petraglia
12/02/2011 - 1:53pm
The joke around the Patriots media work room a couple of weeks ago was whether football writers would be allowed to vote for a player as NFL MVP without that player having taken a snap in a game this season.
Mike Petraglia
11/25/2011 - 10:45am
Just being a sports fan in New England, we all know there is plenty to be thankful for this holiday season. Take a look around and you realize as much.
Mike Petraglia
11/18/2011 - 7:03pm
FOXBORO -- I had one simple question for Bill Belichick on Wednesday.
Mike Petraglia
11/11/2011 - 11:53pm
Forget Chad Ochocinco.
Mike Petraglia
11/09/2011 - 10:43am
I don’t want to hear about the peripheral damage to student-athletes. I don’t want to hear about the millions of dollars lost in revenues to academia. I don’t want to hear about TV contracts and the integrity of the schedule. And I don’t want to hear about due process.
Mike Petraglia
11/04/2011 - 5:44pm
FOXBORO – There was a very telling moment in the Patriots locker room on the Thursday before the game with the Steelers. Tom Brady had his right shoulder and elbow heavily wrapped.
Mike Petraglia
10/27/2011 - 8:28pm
Well, now that I’ve caught my breath after a whirlwind return from the bye week in Ohio, here’s what’s been on my mind. Somewhere Dan Duquette is smiling a very wide smile.
Mike Petraglia
10/21/2011 - 11:21pm
CINCINNATI -- Coming to you from my fair hometown, where I have some family time during the Patriots' bye week. Cincinnati, the home of Pete Rose, conservative politics, Procter & Gamble, baseball’s first professional franchise and Bengals owner Mike Brown.
Mike Petraglia
10/14/2011 - 8:51am
"I wish we had $90 million under the salary cap. I wish we could buy the world. We can’t. The only thing we can do is work hard, and all the negativity that’s in this town sucks. I’ve been around when Jim Rice was booed. I’ve been around when [Carl] Yastrzemski was booed. And it stinks. It makes the greatest town, greatest city in the world, lousy. The only thing that will turn this around is being upbeat and positive like we are in that locker room.
Mike Petraglia
10/07/2011 - 8:05pm
It’s been a whirlwind of a week in Boston. The Red Sox part ways with their manager and everyone wants to know the dirt inside the clubhouse. The Patriots are 3-1 with a defense leaking more than a Cape House roof following a Nor’Easter.

CLEVELAND — Here are three things we learned from the Celtics' 95-89 win over the Cavaliers in Cleveland Tuesday night:

FOXBORO — From the moment he turned around and addressed reporters on Wednesday morning in front of his locker, Adalius Thomas looked like he wanted to get something off his chest. The man, who is in his 10th NFL season, did not tell reporters he did not want to talk. He faced reporters and carefully couched all of his answers to the questions he knew were about to be asked.   He admitted he was “shocked” by Bill Belichick’s decision to sit him for Sunday’s game against Tennessee.
Mike Petraglia
10/11/2009 - 7:56am
You don’t want to fall behind the New York Islanders, 3-0, and come back with a furious third period rally and eventually a shootout win, 4-3, just to show you can handle adversity.
Mike Petraglia
10/02/2009 - 11:26pm
Here are five things we learned from the Red Sox' 6-2 win over the Indians, Friday night, at Fenway Park: DAISUKE KEEPS ON ROLLING Daisuke Matsuzaka looks like a viable postseason starter (if needed). It was hardly Game 7 of the 2007 ALCS, but Matsuzaka was facing the Indians in a start that meant a great deal to him and the Red Sox.
Mike Petraglia
07/30/2009 - 12:58am
Kevin Youkilis and Jason Bay know the numbers. No one in Red Sox Nation has to spit them back in their faces. But for perspective on just why and how the Red Sox offense has, for the most part, been dormant since the All-Star break, take a look at both and you see two middle-of-the-order batters struggling mightily. Youkilis has seen his average, on-base percentage, slugging and OPS all fall in every month of the season this year.
