06/06/2014 - 12:25pm
FOXBORO -- Stevan Ridley gets it.
Mike Petraglia

Inexcusable. That's the only way to characterize the effort put forth by the Bruins in the most important game of their season.
Mike Petraglia
05/13/2014 - 9:23pm
The message doesn't need to be spoken. It needs to be delivered. They need to beat their hated rivals in Game 7 or their 54-win, 117-point Presidents' Trophy season will have been a failure and a colossal waste.
Mike Petraglia
05/05/2014 - 6:35pm
Jonny Gomes is really looking forward to catching up this week with some old friends.
Mike Petraglia
04/09/2014 - 10:21pm
Now the season can really begin, at least in the mind of David Ortiz.
Mike Petraglia
04/05/2014 - 5:53pm
Lyle Overbay saw it coming all along.
Mike Petraglia
03/20/2014 - 12:46pm
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Jake Peavy firmly believes he still has a lot of good pitches left in his right arm. That's a funny thing to say about a pitcher who is still in his prime, albeit perhaps past his physical peak.
Mike Petraglia
02/25/2014 - 4:30pm
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Don't worry about Jackie Bradley Jr. On the verge of his first spring training as the starting center fielder on the defending World Series champions, the 23-year-old outfielder carries himself as a calm, cool and collected player ready to fill the shoes of a highly successful predecessor.

FORT MYERS, Fla.

There was never a kindler, gentler or more loyal man than Dick Kelley. At least, none I have ever met in my 21 years of covering Boston sports. The man was pure gold to me.
Mike Petraglia
02/10/2014 - 2:46pm
Enough with the games. Danny Ainge, the man charged with presiding over the most successful franchise in Boston sports, will be busy listening to offers for valuable pieces on his roster over the next week, leading up to the NBA trade deadline of Feb. 20.
Mike Petraglia
01/30/2014 - 1:53pm
NEW YORK -- Just think of it -- Richard Sherman talking everyone up in Foxboro. It's just what the Patriots need. The perfect blend of swagger, confidence and skill in the secondary.
Mike Petraglia
01/28/2014 - 11:10pm
NEWARK -- Pete Carroll deflected the question at first. How has the past made him a better coach?
Mike Petraglia
01/25/2014 - 4:17pm
"We hang our hat on defense, not on offense. We didn't shoot the ball the way we wanted to. We gut it out. We know what we are. We're all grit, all grit, all grit and balls, that's what it is man. That's what we are." Kevin Garnett.
Mike Petraglia
01/20/2014 - 1:31am
DENVER -- It hasn't happened often in their 15 epic encounters, but Peyton Manning outplayed Tom Brady, and it was the difference in the AFC championship game.
Mike Petraglia
01/12/2014 - 11:45am
FOXBORO -- As LeGarrette Blount answered questions for over 30 minutes in front of his locker after his historic effort in a 43-22 playoff win over the Colts, there was another running back holding court just three lockers down on "Running Back Row" who didn't have such a shabby day himself.
Mike Petraglia
12/30/2013 - 12:03pm
FOXBORO -- I've seen enough. These Patriots are Super Bowl caliber.
Mike Petraglia
12/23/2013 - 12:50am
BALTIMORE -- Logan Mankins could only smile and laugh. He was asked if he was insulted that some so-called experts figured the Patriots and their banged-up offensive line would get manhandled by a tough Ravens defense.
Mike Petraglia
12/20/2013 - 9:37pm
FOXBORO -- Forget Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. There's no better or bigger rivalry in football than Patriots-Ravens.
Mike Petraglia
12/15/2013 - 11:16pm
If that's what January is going to look like, it's going to be a short postseason for the Patriots. Too many dropped passes in the clutch. The inability to stop a team on fourth down when you have them dead to rights. A kick out of bounds after a go-ahead touchdown.
Mike Petraglia
12/09/2013 - 2:56pm
FOXBORO -- All hope is not lost. Yes, Rob Gronkowski appears to be lost for the season with a right knee injury that was described by Browns players on the scene Sunday as "gruesome."
Mike Petraglia
12/01/2013 - 3:11pm
CINCINNATI -- Sports can bridge the past and present unlike anything known in the universe. It's the mix of excitement and emotion peppered with your surroundings that makes you not only remember where you were but what you were doing and what you felt at a precise moment in time.
