About Kirk Minihane

Kirk Minihane thinks "Slap Shot" is -- without argument -- the best sports movie ever made and is also convinced the 1985-86 Celtics would have finished with a record of 78-4 if they had cared about the regular season. He has been a columnist at WEEI.com since 2009 and is now part of The Dennis & Callahan Show.

Ben Cherington, fiscal disciplinarian.

First, before we dig deep into all things karma, let's start with this: I don't want to hear about running up the score. That wasn't Woburn vs. Reading at Gillette on Sunday.
Kirk Minihane
11/15/2012 - 10:30am
Three Patriots questions asked and answered on a Thursday as we all wait for Sunday and the chance to finally hear Jim Nantz and Phil Simms realize a dream and announce a game from Gillette Stadium ...

11/13/2012 - 8:22am
I suppose it's important to note that the Patriots did beat the Bills on Sunday. I was there, I saw Patriots 37, Bills 31 with 0:00 on the clock. It happened, the Patriots are 6-3 and a look at the standings confirms this team has won three games in row and are one game behind the Ravens (though in actuality it's two with the head-to-head loss) for the second seed in the AFC.
Kirk Minihane
11/11/2012 - 10:47pm
There are a million Patriots apologists and at least as many professional and amateur contrarians, but after watching Patriots 37, Bills 31, we can all get together and agree that this defense isn't nearly good enough to win a Super Bowl as presently constituted, right?
Kirk Minihane
11/08/2012 - 12:26pm
Probably by now you've seen the Sporting News poll of 103 NFL players earlier this week that asked this question:  Who is the most overrated head coach in the NFL today?
Kirk Minihane
11/06/2012 - 12:08pm
It's so easy to take Tom Brady for granted.
Kirk Minihane
11/05/2012 - 5:12am
I think we all believe Kevin Youkilis was traded by the Red Sox to the White Sox on June 24 for the following reasons:
Kirk Minihane
10/31/2012 - 1:14am
Here's what we can indisputably take away from Heat 120, Celtics 107: These two teams still hate each other. That's it, that's all and it's really kind of a wonderful thing, no?
Kirk Minihane
10/30/2012 - 7:02am
"I'm always going to be a Celtic no matter what." -- Ray Allen Ray Allen wants to have it both ways.
Kirk Minihane
10/25/2012 - 12:06pm
"I know what I’m doing." -- Frank Spaziani, Oct. 24 I think we're all realistic about the ceiling for Boston College football, right?
Kirk Minihane
10/23/2012 - 7:43am
Report card time, and remember this if you are understandably ready to bury this team after watching Mark Sanchez go up and down the field a week after watching Russell Wilson outplay Tom Brady:

FOXBORO -- Did that feel like a win to you?

Report Card Time and a very quick Q&A before we get started. Is the sky falling?
Kirk Minihane
10/15/2012 - 6:52am
There were two quarterbacks playing at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Sunday afternoon. One is a rookie and the other played like a rookie.
Kirk Minihane
10/10/2012 - 11:12am
Dan Shaughnessy blames me for fans in Kansas City cheering when Matt Cassel was knocked out with a head injury last Sunday. Knowing this, you might conclude I was among the 68,803 in attendance at Arrowhead Stadium, fist raised in triumph as Cassel was taken off the field. That would be a logical assumption, right?
Kirk Minihane
10/09/2012 - 6:52am
Report card time, and if Wes Welker goes back to the bench when Julian Edelman returns, we've really got a story.
Kirk Minihane
10/04/2012 - 5:21pm
Bobby Valentine has finally been fired -- why didn't this happen months ago? -- and that's a very good thing for the Boston Red Sox.
Kirk Minihane
10/04/2012 - 9:26am
There are 32 days until the 2012 elections. I expect it will get ugly, as it inevitably does. Or uglier, I suppose.
Kirk Minihane
10/02/2012 - 6:49am
Report Card Time and it kind of says a lot about what we've seen over the last decade or so with this franchise that they can put up 45 points in 25 minutes and no one is really screaming about the fact that they put up 45 points in 25 minutes.
Kirk Minihane
10/01/2012 - 6:50am
Patriots 52, Bills 28. Call it The Redemption of Josh McDaniels. Too soon? A bit much?
Kirk Minihane
09/25/2012 - 7:31am
This is basically going to be a replacement-free piece of real estate this week.
Kirk Minihane
09/18/2012 - 7:38am
The Patriots never lose these games.  Think about it: When the Patriots, with Tom Brady at quarterback, lose regular-season games at home, it's usually to an NFL heavyweight, an A-Lister.
Kirk Minihane
09/16/2012 - 9:08pm
FOXBORO -- What is going on with Wes Welker?
Kirk Minihane
09/11/2012 - 7:36am
I'm all for conspiracy theories.  I mean it, I can't get enough of them. You think the CIA killed JFK? LBJ was involved? The Mafia? Castro? Maybe you've got J. Edgar Hoover pulling the strings. If you've got a semi-plausible motive, a couple of decent twists and genuine enthusiasm I'm usually all in.
