About Kirk Minihane

Kirk Minihane thinks "Slap Shot" is -- without argument -- the best sports movie ever made and is also convinced the 1985-86 Celtics would have finished with a record of 78-4 if they had cared about the regular season. He has been a columnist at WEEI.com since 2009 and is now part of The Dennis & Callahan Show.

One man's completely uneducated guess at five headlines you'll be reading this week … 1. Pierce scores 25, Garnett adds 18 in win over Knicks

"It’s modern-day slavery, you know?" -- Adrian Peterson What an idiot.

Clearly, a lot has changed in the last year for the Red Sox.

I've heard enough about Kendrick Perkins. I mean, really? Still? It's been six days. My patience has worn off. A nice player, yes. A contributor to the 2008 championship team? Sure. Gritty. Tough. A perfect fifth banana. The right guy for the right team.

02/24/2011 - 6:49pm
One man's look at the position-by-position matchups of the Red Sox and Yankees, written while listening to 'EEI callers in full panic mode.

Bobby Orr has a statue. Makes sense, right? For all the reasons we know about. Changed the game, maybe the best player ever, flying through the air vs. St. Louis, all that stuff. A statue for No. 4 is the no brainer to end all no brainers.
Kirk Minihane
02/16/2011 - 1:03pm
I think the 2011 Red Sox are going to be good. I'll even give you very good.
Kirk Minihane
02/13/2011 - 8:12pm
The 2010-11 Miami Heat have a record of 39-15, third-best in the NBA. They are on pace to win 60 games, no small feat (only been done once in the franchise's 23-year history, and while this isn't the Lakers in terms of lore this isn't the Clippers we're talking about either).

"I think everybody wants a new deal, but I wouldn't say anything I did this past year would warrant one or anything like that. … You go into the offseason thinking about what you can do to get better, and there's plenty of things I can do to have a better year."

Report Card time and I'm still not sure what happened. I was in the press box for Jets 28, Patriots 21 (sitting right next to Suzy Kolber, who it should be noted did not seem suitably impressed when I broke out what I thought was a more than passable Joe Namath impression) and I've since watched the game twice.  And I'm still not sure what happened.

If you actually need to know anything about the Jets on Thursday, may I be bold enough to suggest that these are four things that would be most important:
