About Joe Haggerty
Joe Haggerty has covered the Boston Bruins and the NHL for the Woburn Daily Times Chronicle over the last six seasons and does actually remember the last time the Black and Gold were favored in a playoff series. Haggerty grew up in a hockey family, but the closest he came to playing ice hockey was enrolling in an ice skating class. Haggs is old enough to remember when TV guys like Mike Milbury, Rick Middleton and Andy Brickley skated for the B’s, but still young enough to think that Milan Lucic could be the next Big Hockey Thing in Boston.

Tim Thomas has always been known as somewhat of a slow starter, and it was no different for the Bruins goaltender this season.
Joe Haggerty
11/06/2009 - 12:46pm
Things were getting downright historical for the Bruins Thursday night while matching up against the Montreal Canadiens, and not at all in a good way.
Joe Haggerty
11/04/2009 - 9:24am
The numbers are beginning to tell the story with the Bruins offense this season, and this page-turner isn’t pretty.
Joe Haggerty
11/02/2009 - 3:08am
It came down to one simple difference in the Bruins' tightly wrapped 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Rangers Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
Joe Haggerty
10/30/2009 - 2:17am
It’s taken nearly a month for the reality to sink in, but some things are becoming quite clear about the Bruins.
Joe Haggerty
10/24/2009 - 5:32pm
There’s obviously a little bit of trouble in the Hub during the season’s first edition of the Hagg Bag. The Bruins are treading water at 4-4-1 through the first nine games and just might be a .500 team traipsing through the next two months while fighting their way through more adversity than they experienced all of last season.
Joe Haggerty
10/23/2009 - 3:23am
With a point taken out of Thursday night’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers, the Bruins are the embodiment of a .500 team after nine games: four wins, four losses and now one measly shootout loss to show. Even so, there was imperfect progress made against a highly motivated Philly club in defeat.
Joe Haggerty
10/22/2009 - 10:13am
Things just seem to keep getting worse for the Bruins.
Joe Haggerty
10/18/2009 - 11:12am
Claude Julien mentioned several times during Boston’s fizzler of a 2-3 homestand that he didn’t like what he’d seen out of his team during moments of adversity.
Joe Haggerty
10/17/2009 - 7:52am
One season ago, the Bruins looked to shake off a sluggish start to their campaign with a road trip through the Great White North of Western Canada.
Joe Haggerty
10/13/2009 - 1:23am
The Bruins originally looked at their season-opening five-game homestand as a nice little stretch capable of getting the motor humming and heading into the proper direction amid a season of high expectations.
Joe Haggerty
10/12/2009 - 7:06am
Billy Wagner knows one of baseball’s golden rules is never letting hitters peek behind the pitcher's curtain, but he could never help himself when it came to Bobby Abreu.
Joe Haggerty
10/09/2009 - 9:49am
There’s no denying last season was magical for the Bruins.
Joe Haggerty
10/07/2009 - 7:15am
In many ways, Milan Lucic is the perfect Bruin.
Joe Haggerty
10/04/2009 - 3:30am
The Incredible Hulk’s TV alter ego David Banner was always wary of saying that “you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.” Bruins fans, on the other hand, might have the opposite feeling about their club.
Joe Haggerty
10/02/2009 - 3:54am
So many things were in place for the Bruins to make a resounding, early statement about their season.
Joe Haggerty
10/01/2009 - 4:55am
When Peter Chiarelli first came to Boston four seasons ago armed with a master plan to turn things around, he arrived bearing a plan bent on making a run for Lord Stanley’s Cup by the fourth and final season of his original contract.
Joe Haggerty
09/30/2009 - 8:27am
It’s not really a stretch to call the Bruins' collection of forwards perhaps the deepest in all of the NHL.
Joe Haggerty
09/27/2009 - 6:48pm
Blake Wheeler was the talk of early training camp when he showed up in Boston with 15 pounds of extra muscle added to his athletic frame.
Joe Haggerty
09/24/2009 - 10:33am
People often say regarding trade rumors that where there’s smoke, there’s often a roaring fire. If that’s the case, there ought to be plumes of smoke rising from the hockey hotbed of Atlanta this week as Ilya Kovalchuk readies for the walk year of his five-year contract with the Thrashers.
Joe Haggerty
09/18/2009 - 7:11am
The Red Sox made an authoritative statement to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim by taking two of three against their likely ALDS foe, and they are simply rolling both offensively and pitching-wise.
Joe Haggerty
09/17/2009 - 7:37am
Things were supposed to be different this year for the Angels.

Things were supposed to be different this year for the Angels.
Joe Haggerty
09/16/2009 - 6:55am
There was a time in the middle of the marathon baseball season when Ramon Ramirez might just have felt a bit lost amid the talented arms in a stacked Boston bullpen.
Joe Haggerty
09/14/2009 - 2:43am
The Boston Bruins have already proven they have the hockey goods to romp their way through the Eastern Conference in the regular season.
