Jessica comes to WEEI.com after covering the Celtics and the NBA as a senior reporter for Hoopsworld. She is a member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association and is fluent in Spanish. Jessica entered the Boston sports scene in 2005 with the Red Sox Spanish Beisbol Network radio broadcast and currently talks Sox for Diehard magazine.

Kendrick Perkins was right there with LeBron James as he drove to the basket on a fast break. By the time James got to the hoop, Perkins was poised to stop him from scoring.

Ray Allen didn’t approach Game 5 against the Heat any differently than the rest of the games. He arrived at TD Garden at 2:45 in the afternoon, just over four hours before tipoff. He followed his usual game-day routine — change clothes, stretch, shoot. Nothing more, nothing less.

The young ballplayer made his way over the to gym with his father and brother, the same trip they had taken every weekend for nearly a year. They arrived before 10 a.m. to secure a spot on the sign-up sheet. It was ideal to face the first two or three teams — guys got tired out by the sixth or seventh game — and this was the best pick up basketball around.

Before Wednesday night’s Celtics-Grizzlies game, autographed boxing gloves from Manny Pacquiao adorned the Celtics’ lockers. They were a gift from the world-renowned boxer, whom many players on the team met following their championship in 2008.
