Tyler Seguin has been given a lot. The second overall pick in last year's draft, Seguin has been welcomed to the city of Boston with open arms, and viewed by the NHL as one of the league's top talents. In a season in which his statistical output has been less than many probably expected (8-9=17 totals in 51 games) he was showcased in Raleigh, N.C. during the All-Star festivities as one of the premier rookies. Despite not yet being the top player he will almost undoubtedly one day be, he's been given a lot.

David Krejci knew before the season that in a lineup without Marc Savard, the expectations usually placed on No. 91 might fall on him. With Savard recovering from post-concussion syndrome, Krejci worked as the team’s top-line pivot early in the season prior to going down with a concussion of his own on Nov. 20.

The annual image of an emotional Marc Savard struggling through his words as he talks about his future isn’t easier the second time around, especially when the questions are about whether concussions have doomed his career for the last time.

The Bruins know that they aren’t going to get a Dec. 23 kind of game every night. These days, that line of thinking can also be revised to include Feb. 3.

If there’s one way to start the hardest part of your schedule, that’s it.

Not every game the Bruins play in the second half of the season is going to be like Tuesday’s 3-2 win over the Hurricanes at the RBC Center (recap).
DJ Bean
01/31/2011 - 9:28pm
The notion was thrown around earlier in the season half-seriously, but there’s no joking about it these days: Tim Thomas has a good shot at both the Vezina and the Hart Trophy. Seriously.
DJ Bean
01/28/2011 - 3:56am
The first 50 games of the season for the Bruins had plenty of good and plenty of bad, but the team really began to hit its stride over the last month, and as a result, Claude Julien’s club is sitting atop the Northeast Division with a four-point lead.

01/27/2011 - 6:15am
Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli spoke with WEEI.com Wednesday night to address the current state of the team as it enters the All-Star break, which areas he might be interested in improving, and a variety of other topics regarding the Black and Gold.
DJ Bean
01/25/2011 - 4:12am
Isn’t it fitting that on the very night that the Bruins receive the latest dose of bad news regarding the health of Marc Savard, they go out and have one of their most offensively lacking performances in recent memory?
DJ Bean
01/22/2011 - 9:39pm
The Bruins went into the Pepsi Center Saturday and backed up David Krecji’s recent words about good teams not losing back-to-back games. Coming off a 4-2 loss to the Sabres at home on Thursday, Brad Marchand led the B’s to a 6-2 victory over the Avalanche (recap).

The Bruins were expecting a tough one in Carolina on Tuesday night, and though it didn't always look promising, they found a way to grab two points in regulation with a 3-2 victory (recap).

What was more surprising on Monday: Zdeno Chara's first career hat trick or the fact that the mild-mannered blueliner displayed a pretty nifty celebration as the hats fell to the ice?

The Penguins wanted to return the favor after the B's beat them twice in Pittsburgh this season.
DJ Bean
01/14/2011 - 7:50pm
Bruins captain Zdeno Chara has those who praise him, and he has his critics. In the case of the latter, some question his contract, while others wonder whether he's the right man to be wearing the "C" on his jersey.
DJ Bean
01/14/2011 - 2:16am
Leave it to the Bruins and Flyers to make a 3-0 B's victory with Tim Thomas shutouts the most boring game between the squads this season.
DJ Bean
01/12/2011 - 3:17am
Things got messy at TD Garden on Tuesday. Yes, the Bruins blew out the Senators with a 6-0 victory (recap), but the place was literally a mess given the two showers of hats for Patrice Bergeron.
DJ Bean
01/11/2011 - 7:13am
The Bruins ended the first half of the season on a remarkable note when they scored four goals in the final 3:23 of regulation to beat the Penguins, 4-2. There may not be a better way of begging for a last-second grade inflation on a hockey scribe's report card.
DJ Bean
01/09/2011 - 2:13am
What didn't Saturday night's game between the Bruins and Canadiens, a 3-2 overtime win for the Habs (recap), feature? It had Habs' two-goal comeback in the final 2:22 of regulation. It featured the near-empty-netter that just missed sealing it for the Bruins by a matter of inches.
DJ Bean
01/07/2011 - 2:29am
The Bruins suffered another power outage on Thursday in their 3-1 loss to the Wild on Thursday (recap). While the rival Canadiens were gaining ground in the standings with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Penguins, the B's floundered offensively and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
DJ Bean
01/04/2011 - 1:39am
There was no question over who stole the show when Tuukka Rask led the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the Maple Leafs Monday night in Toronto (recap). Rask made 36 saves and shut the Leafs down in a hectic third period in a performance the B's needed just as badly as he did.
DJ Bean
01/02/2011 - 1:23am
Tim Thomas didn't end up getting the day off after all. Claude Julien inserted the early Vezina favorite into Saturday's game to start the second period, and the 36-year-old took a shootout loss as the Bruins fell, 7-6, to the Sabres (recap).
DJ Bean
12/31/2010 - 2:58am
If you think Thursday night's 3-2 shootout victory for the Thrashers over the Bruins (recap) a letdown, you are mistaken. No, it wasn't lopsided in the fashion that either of the teams' two previous meetings were, but it was one of the hardest games the Bruins have played this season.
DJ Bean
12/29/2010 - 1:51am
The Bruins seem to have a full head of steam at the right time. After Mark Recchi delivered the game-winner with 19.7 seconds remaining in regulation to give the B's a 4-3 win over the Lightning on Tuesday (recap), the B's have won three straight since their ugly 3-0 loss to the Ducks last Monday.
