Big and Bad. Maybe it's overrated. On a night when there were zero signs of life from the Canadiens, the Bruins opted to display a different 'B' Thursday: Better.
DJ Bean
03/23/2011 - 7:20pm
Thursday night is going to be a big test for the Bruins, but when it comes to all the obstacles the B's will face with the Habs in town, there me be none greater than the challenge of keeping focused.

Milan Lucic is not Cam Neely.

WILMINGTON -- Tyler Seguin's terrific play has rarely been a storyline this season, and the explanation as to why is pretty simple: The rookie's play hasn't been terrific.

March isn't a good time for team to be in free-fall, so with 11 games remaining in the regular season, the Bruins, 1-3-3 over their last seven games, are hoping consecutive days at Ristuccia arena for the first time in a while will do the trick. While the town laments their play of late, the players in the room are just trying to diagnose the issue and remedy it.

Remember the good old days of January?

When the Bruins were in the midst of their impressive seven-game win streak, people saw just how good they can be. All of the summer hype that surrounded the team in the months leading up to the regular season suddenly seemed on par. Yes, they had been a very good team to that point, but by late February, people some thought that all the questions about the 2010-11 Boston Bruins were answered.
DJ Bean
03/16/2011 - 2:50pm
While this may not be easy for Bruins fans to hear, it should be easy for the league to decide.
DJ Bean
03/16/2011 - 12:28am
The Bruins ended their four-game skid in dramatic fashion on Tuesday, requiring a shorthanded tally from Rich Peverley, as well as big saves from both Tuukka Rask and Tomas Kaberle just to get the game to overtime. It ultimately ended with Rask and Tyler Seguin starring in a shootout, and the end result was a 3-2 win in Columbus (recap).

Here’s a sentence that wasn’t a leading candidate to exist two days ago: Zdeno Chara got a raw deal.
DJ Bean
03/09/2011 - 2:13am
Zdeno Chara has been plenty of things in his NHL career: The tallest guy to ever play the game. The captain who got the “C” before playing a single game with the Bruins. A target for jeers every time he touches the puck in another team’s building. The list goes on.
DJ Bean

WILMINGTON – The Bruins and Canadiens have set the bar pretty high, even by this rivalry’s standards.  The last time the two teams met, they combined for 187 penalty minutes and 14 goals in an 8-6 Bruins victory.
DJ Bean
03/06/2011 - 2:45am
It was bound to end sometime.   The Bruins’ seven-game win-streak was the talk of the town while it lasted, but all it took was a regrettable Dennis Seidenberg pass to wipe it away Saturday night in overtime.
DJ Bean
03/04/2011 - 5:57pm
WILMINGTON -- In watching the Bruins this season, and especially in recent weeks, there has been one thing on the minds of fans throughout New England. The question of whether the silver object that has long eluded these parts could finally arrive (without a winner from another team bringing it) is a subject that is being entertained more and more.
DJ Bean
03/04/2011 - 12:44am
The Bruins have had their fair share of “big games” this season, and often times they’ve dictated them to their liking with their desired balance of fighting and scoring.
DJ Bean
03/02/2011 - 1:58am
Another game, another two points. That's the way the Bruins' six-game road trip went, and it ended Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over the Senators at Scotiabank Place (recap).
DJ Bean
02/22/2011 - 2:25am
The NFL Scouting Combine is a place for making good impressions, but it’s also the birthplace of annual blunders. While it’s easy to point at foolishly high picks that stem from individual performances, the mysterious slipups of the combine are not limited to just teams.
DJ Bean
02/21/2011 - 2:39am
The Feb. 28 trade deadline is one week away, and with less than $1 million in cap space, it’s a safe bet that the Bruins, who have already added help on the power play (Tomas Kaberle) as well as the bottom six forward mix (Rich Peverley and Chris Kelly) will not be adding a major scorer. What you see may be what you get with this roster, and the players like their chances.
DJ Bean
02/19/2011 - 6:00am
Catch your breath yet? It seems the Bruins barely could when they needed a big effort in the final two periods to sink the Senators Friday night after a big day of trades that landed them Tomas Kaberle, Rich Peverley, and less notably Boris Valabik. Into the organization came those three, and out went Blake Wheeler, Mark Stuart, Joe Colborne, and a pair of draft picks.
DJ Bean
02/18/2011 - 2:03pm
It’s almost anticlimactic that Tomas Kaberle is now a member of the Bruins. Fans have been customizing jerseys with the Czech blueliner’s name for years now, but they can finally don those sweaters without getting funny looks.
DJ Bean
02/18/2011 - 12:27am
The visa issues that have kept Chris Kelly locked in Scotiabank Place the last three days (mostly kidding) won’t be an issue with the Bruins in Ottawa Friday night, so after a 6-3 win over the Islanders on Thursday (recap), it seems the Bruins will finally have their newest addition in the lineup.
DJ Bean
02/16/2011 - 4:35am
Say what you will about the 2010-11 Boston Bruins, but consistency is something on which they have been able to pride themselves.
DJ Bean
02/12/2011 - 12:52am
Friday night was ugly for the Bruins, a dead effort in which the Red Wings dominated them to the tune of a 6-1 score. Two nights after their 8-6 beatdown of the Habs on Wednesday, they were outraced and outsmarted in every facet of the game. The lesson? Maybe these guys just shouldn’t have so many statement games.
DJ Bean
02/10/2011 - 3:53am
The Bruins see the Canadiens often enough in both the regular season and the playoffs, but the regular season is starting to show that it would be a shame if the two weren’t brought together once again in mid-April.
