Tyler Seguin will always have a special place in his heart for the NHL draft. After all, it was just two short years ago that the draft defined the then-18-year-old Plymouth Whalers star center.

The late, great Terry Kath once sang that he wanted to be free. There aren't many Bruins who can identify with that, thanks to what Peter Chiarelli has cultivated in Boston.

On the same night that another team raised the Stanley Cup, the Bruins made two moves to keep members of their Cup-winning team in Boston.

For all of the talk of Tim Thomas leaving his teammates high and dry, he sure did come up big for the guy who sits next to him in the Bruins’ dressing room.
DJ Bean
06/03/2012 - 8:52pm
If you’re trying to figure out what Tim Thomas is thinking or doing, save yourself the headache and just give up. Take the good with the bewildering.

Hoping for the Bruins to spend big this offseason? Don’t count on it.

It's always something with Tim Thomas.

04/26/2012 - 2:55am
The Bruins sat in their dressing room baffled by their fate. It was what you’d expect from a team that had just been eliminated: quiet guys, short sentences and the general sense that players were preoccupied with thinking about what could have been.

Tim Thomas’ most memorable games have come in the postseason. Now, it’s time for another one.

Two of the most intriguing words in all of sports are “if” and “necessary.”  If necessary, a series can go five, six or seven games. If necessary, a team that’s a win away from advancing might need two or three games to do it.

WASHINGTON – David Krejci was the Bruins’ most productive offensive player last postseason. Any chance he’ll show up during these playoffs?

WASHINGTON – How might Brad Marchand, the Bruins’ resident wordsmith, summarize the direction in which the Eastern Conference quarterfinals is headed?
DJ Bean
04/15/2012 - 8:05pm
WASHINGTON – The Capitals are for real.  As the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series shifts to the nation’s capital tied at one game apiece, it’s clear that the Bruins’ competition is stiff. The Capitals have handcuffed Boston’s offense, played two great road games and made two fanbases forget that they’re doing it with an AHL goalie.
DJ Bean
04/14/2012 - 9:51pm
Bruins fans should know this better than anybody: When the team defense is especially tight, the goalie’s work is a lot easier.  So with no disrespect to Braden Holtby – after being thrown into the fire due to injuries to Tomas Vokoun and Michal Neuvirth answered the bell and made all the stops he’s had to – let’s calm down a bit.

All you need to do is watch a Bruins game to know that defenseman Andrew Ference is the ultimate team player.

If you need a scouting report on Chris Kelly, you probably shouldn’t ask Chris Kelly.

04/11/2012 - 5:09am
Last season, the Bruins played three seven-game series en route to winning the Stanley Cup, and the first one came in the opening round against the Canadiens.  They won the Cup, but the B’s literally came a bounce away from being knocked out in the first round.

Zdeno Chara is expected to have his giant hands full over the next couple of weeks as he is charged with neutralizing one of the most electrifying scorers in the NHL.
