Tyler Seguin finally turned 21 this week, and though he can finally have a legal drink in the United States, at this point he’d probably prefer a goal to a Guinness.

It hasn’t quite been Happy Gilmore refraining from the “putter throw,” but the young season has seen a much more reserved Brad Marchand -- not a less-productive Marchand (he’s tied with Nathan Horton for the team lea

If there was any doubt that the members of David Krejci’s line had hit the ground running this season, the point was reiterated on Monday night.

Dougie Hamilton has heard the hip-hop anthem “Teach Me How To Dougie” a sickening amount of times. He’s heard it every way, from the original – released in 2010 by Cali Swag District – to the Johnny Boychuk locker room rendition.
DJ Bean
01/24/2013 - 5:16pm
WILMINGTON – Prior to this week, the last time Tuukka Rask played three full NHL games in a row was in the 2009-10 season. That will be a regular occurrence for the foreseeable future as he’s taken over the No.
DJ Bean
01/24/2013 - 2:19am
As much as B’s fans had to have wanted that second point Wednesday night, the truth is that the first three games of the 48-game season have presented a big test, and thus far they’re passing with a 2-0-1 record. [Right: It took three games for the first “Yeah they lost, but…” column of the season. It’s been too long.]
DJ Bean
01/21/2013 - 7:02pm
The Bruins have gotten off to the start they were hoping for through two games, as they enter a big matchup with the Rangers Wednesday with a 2-0-0 record.
DJ Bean
01/20/2013 - 2:27am
It was easy to question Milan Lucic’s conditioning entering the season because he didn’t play in Europe or make a ton of appearances at practices organized by teammates during the lockout. Maybe those questions were warranted, and maybe they weren’t.
DJ Bean
01/18/2013 - 11:02pm
It took long enough, but the “2012”-13 season is finally here.
DJ Bean
01/17/2013 - 10:57pm
WILMINGTON – In some ways, Dougie Hamilton and Tyler Seguin have a lot in common. In other ways, the two couldn’t be more different.
DJ Bean
01/16/2013 - 5:18pm
Chris Kelly’s line has one new member on it heading into this season. That’s enough to make it the most radically changed line on the Bruins.
DJ Bean
01/15/2013 - 5:01pm
Tuukka Rask still can’t think about the last time he was a No. 1 goalie.
DJ Bean
01/14/2013 - 8:57pm
Nathan Horton is back, and with a healthy Horton comes a line that was drastically different without him.
DJ Bean
01/14/2013 - 2:28am
The Bruins aren’t kidding anyone. Top prospect Dougie Hamilton is going to make the team and stay in the NHL for the season. Peter Chiarelli said as much as training camp opened, making clear that there isn’t a person in the organization who doesn’t think the 19-year-old is legit.
DJ Bean
01/11/2013 - 7:31pm
If every game in a 48-game schedule will carry the importance of a playoff game, does that mean Bruins fans can expect a big season from David Krejci?
DJ Bean
01/09/2013 - 2:42pm
Nobody takes fitness more seriously than Zdeno Chara, so amidst expectations that players will be out of shape and generally sloppy when the season begins later this month, it's no surprise that the Bruins captain has something else in mind.
DJ Bean
01/07/2013 - 7:17pm
The lockout is over, so now what? The league will begin a 48-game season -- on Jan. 19, in all likelihood, though there are still some reports floating around that the 15th could be in play -- in which teams only play in-conference opponents. Furthermore, the schedule will be far more condensed, meaning that fans often can expect four games a week.
DJ Bean
01/06/2013 - 9:52am
The lockout is over, and though everyone in the room – maybe with the exception of mediator Scot Beckenbaugh – ends up a loser for the fact that it lasted 113 days, Donald Fehr can say he won.
DJ Bean
01/04/2013 - 5:29pm
Why is anyone surprised by any of this?
DJ Bean
12/28/2012 - 1:38pm
Good news on the NHL front, for real this time. We think.
DJ Bean
12/27/2012 - 12:11am
The Patriots will have to try to not look ahead as they enter their regular-season finale against the Dolphins, but that might be tough to do considering all six AFC playoff teams have clinched playoff spots, with exact seedings still to be determined.
DJ Bean
12/24/2012 - 2:44pm
When the owners all but guaranteed a lockout with their joke of a CBA proposal this summer, I was asked the same question by pretty much everyone I spoke to outside of work: "How long do you think it’s going to last?"
DJ Bean
12/19/2012 - 7:57pm
If you’re overlooking this week’s matchup between the Patriots and Jaguars, you’re probably doing so for good reason.
DJ Bean
12/12/2012 - 7:43pm
To the surprise of whoever was surprised, Wednesday’s collective bargaining agreement negotiations ended without any progress. That doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be reason for optimism.
DJ Bean
12/11/2012 - 2:23pm
The league and the players are set to meet on Wednesday as the NHL tries to save its season.
