WILMINGTON -- Andrew Ference had gone home after Monday’s morning skate knowing that he was going to be a healthy scratch that night against the Senators.

Every team wants to hit its stride as the playoffs near. Being the best team in April goes a lot further than being the best team in January, so the final couple of weeks of the regular season count for a lot more than picking up points and determining playoff seeding.

It appears the rocky road the Bruins have traveled the last month and a half has gotten even worse.

Close your windows folks, because a big gust of Swedish intrigue appears headed for Boston in the form of forward Carl Soderberg.
DJ Bean
04/08/2013 - 11:46pm
Gregory Campbell was a top-six forward and it worked. It worked against a terrible team that has now lost five games in a row, but it worked. Let’s all acknowledge it.

If that was the last the Bruins have seen of the Canadiens this season, that’s a shame for both the B’s (they should want an opportunity to save face given that their start, finish and a lot of things in between were pretty embarrassing Saturday night) and hockey.
DJ Bean
04/05/2013 - 12:31am
If that was the bad Jaromir Jagr, the Bruins got one hell of a deal with the Stars.
DJ Bean
04/03/2013 - 7:48pm
Wade Redden and Rob Flick probably are very nice people, but Wednesday was way more about who the Bruins lost than who they added.
DJ Bean
04/03/2013 - 12:50am
The Bruins wanted to add a goal-scorer, and now they have it in Jaromir Jagr.
DJ Bean
04/02/2013 - 4:18pm
Jaromir Jagr is a Bruin. Or, to put it in terms more appropriate for this season, Jaromir Jagr is a Bruin and he’s actually a Bruin and the Penguins haven’t taken him away from the Bruins.

Forget the discussion of who’s to blame between Jarome Iginla, Jay Feaster and Peter Chiarelli. Who’s to blame for what’s actually happening on the ice?
DJ Bean
03/28/2013 - 7:06pm
Peter Chiarelli handled the Jarome Iginla trade situation the best he could. Now he has less than a week to handle trades that will actually happen even better.

Just past midnight on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, Bruins fans won the Stanley Cup. They jumped up and down, smiled from ear to ear and waited in their pajamas for commissioner-in-this-scenario Jay Feaster to bring the Cup out onto the ice and hand it over to them.

"Now that I’ve been given this opportunity to be a big part of the puzzle, as much as I’ll have pressure from you guys, you definitely put pressure on yourself to perform. It’s up to me to elevate my game and bring it to a certain standard and that’s the responsibility of being an athlete. I know what that responsibility is now. After spending the last five years in the league, you know how hard it is to play day in and day out in the NHL.

The Bruins can only hope that March is their worst month of the season.  With their latest loss Saturday night against the Maple Leafs, one that ended an eight-game winning streak against Toronto, the B’s concluded their road trip at 1-3-0 and continued what’s been their shakiest of the this season’s three months thus far.

Claude Julien finally got two points Thursday night to end a two-game skid, but it's safe to say he also got his team’s attention.
DJ Bean
03/20/2013 - 12:58am
Since when are the Bruins a nerve-wracking team to watch? Since when does a third-period lead mean a good chance of a nail-biter and a pretty good chance that they won’t come out of it with any points?
DJ Bean
03/17/2013 - 7:37pm
Are the Bruins the best team in the Eastern Conference? They're on pace to finish first, but they've lost their only two meetings against the Penguins and haven't seen the surprising Canadiens go away.
DJ Bean
03/16/2013 - 5:06pm
The Bruins have the pieces to be a great team -- that much can’t be debated. Yet in order to be as dominant as possible, they need the right guys going at the same time. Too often recently, they haven’t had their top line producing like a top line, and they’re going to need that line going as the games get more important late in the season heading into the playoffs.
DJ Bean
03/14/2013 - 11:44pm
Perhaps going from playing against the Penguins to playing against the Panthers is like taking the weight off a weighted bat. The Bruins were doomed by a bad final 30 minutes Tuesday in Pittsburgh, yet an uninspired first two periods Thursday against Florida were enough to give them a lead and eventually a win at the Garden.
DJ Bean
03/13/2013 - 12:20am
The Bruins wrapped up the first half of their 48-game schedule in horrific fashion Tuesday, blowing a two-goal lead in the final 6:18 against the Penguins and suffering their fourth regulation loss of the season.
DJ Bean
03/11/2013 - 3:01am
Last year, Tyler Seguin got two Selke votes, which is probably on par with the ridiculousness of Mariano Rivera potentially not getting voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame unanimously on the first ballot when his name comes up. It was so absurd that when told of it, even Seguin laughed in bewilderment.
DJ Bean
03/09/2013 - 5:30pm
The Bruins needed something to get their bottom six forwards going. Maybe it was a new addition to the third line (Jordan Caron), maybe it was just some grit (Shawn Thornton to set up a goal) and maybe it was just facing a Flyers team that isn’t very good this season.
