Training camp is set to kick off and this preseason figures to be one of the more interesting ones for the Bruins in recent memory.

ANTIOCH, Tenn. -- In the days after they beat the Canucks to win the Stanley Cup in 2011, it seemed the Bruins were high on being the Bruins, and for good reason.

WILMINGTON — David Krejci’s new contract doesn’t hurt the status of unsigned entry level free agent

The Bruins backed up the Brink’s truck for David Krejci. Why?

WILMINGTON —- In years past, Bruins prospects who have yet to turn pro have not participated in captains practice, instead waiting until rookie camp to get on the ice with teammates in the fall.

Tuukka Rask has a bright, well-paid future ahead of him. It would take such a good situation ahead to not want to hold onto a past that includes his first Vezina Trophy.

Loui Eriksson’s final five seasons with the Dallas Stars, were, from an individual standpoint, very good. He played as a top liner, scored a lot of goals, and played in all but three games in that span. He was beloved, albeit by a smaller fan base.

Folks have been saying it since Game 7 against the Canadiens, and Gregory Campbell’s been hearing it since Game 7 against the Canadiens: The Merlot Line model is no longer the way to build a fourth line in the NHL.
DJ Bean

The Bruins were the only NHL team to take a serious look at Joe Sacco after the veteran coach was let go by the Sabres at the end of the season.

Here’s a semi-far-fetched theory: What if the Bruins had next season in mind when they made their first-round pick last month?
DJ Bean
07/13/2014 - 7:44am
It’s been a while since the Bruins had three forward spots in their lineup up for grabs. The offseason is far from over and those spots may be filled one way or another, but if cap limitations require them to be filled internally, the B’s have enough candidates to create a wide-open competition.

Zane Gothberg caught himself using a cliche when describing his development this week at Bruins development camp.  "Good things take time," the 21-year-old goalie said.  That might summarize the Bruins' organizational goaltending depth perfectly.
DJ Bean
07/07/2014 - 2:06am
It's bad enough for Bruins fans that the offseason came as early as it did. Now they're realizing with each passing day that it might be a pretty boring one.

At the end of the day, Peter Chiarelli determined that Jarome Iginla wasn’t worth the roster shakeup it would have taken to sign him.

With mere hours to go before the start of free agency, nothing has changed since breakup day.

The start of the NHL draft is all about optimism. If you have a first-round pick, the day is filled with ideas of hope and what wonderful things may be ahead for your team.  The Bruins had a bad day.

Tuesday night’s NHL Awards had to be tough to watch for Bruins fans.

06/23/2014 - 7:07pm
When Peter Chiarelli said Monday that he didn’t plan on using compliance buyouts this offseason -- his last chance at wiping as many as two contracts off the Bruins’ books with no cap penalty -- the social media response looked like Season 1 American Idol voting. Kelly. Kelly.  Kelly.
DJ Bean
06/17/2014 - 2:37am
Shawn Thornton’s departure represents a change for the Bruins, but it’s far from an admission that they need to change.
DJ Bean
06/16/2014 - 11:03am
The salary cap has not yet been determined for next season, but that doesn’t mean the Bruins’ plan of attack shouldn’t be set for this summer.
DJ Bean
06/13/2014 - 11:45am
Peter Chiarelli’s words Friday morning were a little more interesting than simply squashing a rumor that was picking up steam amongst rightfully bored Bruins fans. He didn’t say he wasn’t trading Brad Marchand for Patrick Marleau; he said he wasn’t trading him for anyone.
