With three games in the books, we’re starting to get a clearer picture of how the 2013 Patriots are coming together -- even without some of the most important faces on the offensive side of the ball.

FOXBORO -- Kenbrell Thompkins was looking to beat press coverage.
Christopher Price
09/19/2013 - 11:49pm
FOXBORO -- Dismissed for the better part of the last five-plus seasons as a mere sideshow when compared to the Patriots’ high-powered offensive extravaganza, the defense has turned the tables through the early stages of the 2013 regular season and has outplayed an inconsistent offense for most of the first two games.
Christopher Price
09/19/2013 - 12:05am
FOXBORO -- The return of Rob Gronkowski will mean several things for not just the Patriots passing game, but the offense in general.
Christopher Price
09/17/2013 - 8:59am
Deion Branch isn't walking through that door. Brandon Lloyd and Jabar Gaffney aren't walking through that door. And if they do, they're going to be … ah, you probably know the rest.

FOXBORO -- Logan Mankins, voice of optimism?

FOXBORO -- The Buffalo Bills are a blank slate.
Christopher Price
09/04/2013 - 3:28pm
It’s the start of a new season, and the new year brings fresh challenges for Bill Belichick and the Patriots. In Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Bills in Buffalo, Belichick will be facing someone in Doug Marrone who has zero experience as a head coach in the NFL.
Christopher Price

FOXBORO -- Just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, the Patriots’ 2013 preseason came to a close. And it was officially time to start thinking about real football again.

Christopher Price

So, are you a glass-is-half-full individual? If so, you’re encouraged by the sight of rookie receiver Kenbrell Thompkins coming away with eight catches for 116 yards, as well as the sight of the Patriots No. 1 defense -- without Vince Wilfork -- playing very well when it counted.
Christopher Price
08/19/2013 - 12:44am
Even by Tom Brady’s standards, the quarterback has had a tremendous start to his 2013 preseason.
Christopher Price
08/17/2013 - 4:53am
FOXBORO -- If you were a New England skill position player who wasn’t targeted at least once in Friday night against the Bucs, you should probably be concerned.

Christopher Price
08/10/2013 - 1:54am
After an offseason where roughly 8,435,117 stories were written about the impending downfall of the Patriots (and the passing game in particular), quarterback Tom Brady went out Friday night and put the NFL on notice: if you want to write off the New England passing game, well, you’ll do so at your own peril.
Christopher Price
08/06/2013 - 12:23am
FOXBORO -- The defining characteristic of the Patriots offense the last two seasons has been its uptempo, no-huddle approach. In 2011 and 2012, the Patriots went no-huddle on 25 percent of their snaps, an astounding total that allowed them to push the pace and keep opposing defenses off guard.
Christopher Price
08/05/2013 - 9:02am
Tom Brady turned 36 Saturday, and while there has been some question as to whether or not the Patriots are putting too much on his shoulders this season with such dramatic turnover at the wide receiver spot, history tells us that no matter the personnel, some of the best quarterbacks in the history of the game have saved their best football for their late 30s.
Christopher Price
08/01/2013 - 9:52pm
FOXBORO -- At the start of the offseason, he was a free agent afterthought.
