About Christopher Price

Christopher Price has covered the Boston sports scene for more then a dozen years, working for ESPN.com, SI.com and Baseball America as well as The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, The Miami Herald and Boston Metro. In that time, he’s established himself as an award-winning sportswriter who has been honored by Northeastern University, the New England Press Association and the North Carolina Press Association. In addition, he’s the author of the just published, “New England Patriots: The Complete Illustrated History” and two other books “Baseball by the Beach” and "The Blueprint: How the New England Patriots Beat the System to Create the Last Great NFL Superpower.”

The Patriots open organized team activities Monday in Foxboro, a series of 12 practices that will run on-and-off for the next month or so leading up to mandatory minicamp in mid-June. While these sessions are meant to be non-contact affairs — which means little can be gleaned when it comes to measuring real football shape, physicality and, to some extent, speed — there will be a number of things worth watching.

As Steve Belichick used to tell his son, “The hay is in the barn.” With the draft now less than two weeks away, teams are pretty much done with the evaluation process. Draft boards are locked, and preparation for the three-day team-building marathon is just about complete. The only thing left for many teams are a few more pre-draft visits, the final step in the appraisal of a possible prospect.
