This clip is all about the execution. You can’t create this kid’s level of style. You’re either born with it, or you’ll never have it. The build-up. The exquisite timing. The sense to know when to cut it short and not overplay the bit. Perfection.

Fox NewsA recent piece in The New Yorker examines the effects of a new wave of student activism at Oberlin College, a small, private liberal arts institution in Ohio, and it’s pretty eye-opening.

According to writer Nathan Heller, Oberlin is “at the center of the current storm” of activism on college campuses, with students heavily involved in issues including classroom diversity, safe spaces, racial inequality and social injustice. …

More than thirteen hundred students signed a petition calling for the college to eliminate any grade lower than a C for the semester, but to no avail. …

A student from Chicago named Zakiya Acey complained to Heller that some of his professors would actually make her take in-class exams as opposed to simply discussing the subject matter. …

“I can’t produce the work that they want me to do. But I understand the material, and I can give it to you in different ways. There’s professors who have openly been, like, ‘Yeah, instead of, you know, writing out this midterm, come in to my office hours, and you can just speak it,’ right? But that’s not institutionalized.”

OK. This is it. I’m calling it. Pull the sheet over the victim’s eyes. Time of death: May, 2016. Cause of death: Suicide. The deceased’s name? Western Civilization.

We were once a beacon to the world. A land of hope that offered one promise: That you could be rewarded for you hard work. There were no guarantees. The road to success would be fraught with peril and setbacks. But if you had the drive, the vision and the confidence to never quit, opportunities were yours in unlimited supply.

And now, it’s over. Our dreamers and achievers are being outnumbered by timid safe spacers and worthless carbon blobs so entitled they think expecting some written words in exchange for a college degree is too big an ask. And who take “Failure is not an option,” a catchphrase made popular by real achievers doing truly amazing things like bringing the Apollo 13 astronauts home safely, literally.

S0 1,300 students signed a petition saying that they should all get passing grades, regardless of whether they did any actual school work or not. I guess we should be glad those ones put out the effort to sign the paper. I’m sure many more asked if it was OK if they just speak their name. Because, you know, they understand the material. They’re just too traumatized by all that social activism to produce the work.

Best of luck to the future graduates of Oberlin. I’m sure all that non-written, non-failing, ungraded, participation trophy culture educating they got will open lots of doors for employers who’ll hire them just on the basis of their heavy involvement in issues. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go live by myself in a hollowed out tree somewhere. That’ll be my safe space from these useless dopes.
