The expansion draft has yet to happen, but Vegas has already made their call on the Bruins.

Just one day after the Penguins became the league’s first back-to-back Stanley Cup champions since the Red Wings accomplished the feat with championships in 1997 and 1998, downing the crowd favorite Predators in six games, Vegas has opened their odds on the odds for next year’s Stanley Cup champions, with the Penguins emerging as the early favorites to pull off the three-peat.

Given 9-to-1 odds to capture the Stanley Cup for the third season in a row, the second-best odds are the 12-to-1 given to the Oilers, Blackhawks, Lightning, and Capitals.

The Bruins, meanwhile, currently sit with the 17th-best odds in the NHL, at 33-to-1.

Those odds are tied with both the Flames (a first-round exit) and the same Sens club that eliminated the B’s in round one. They’re also the fourth-best odds among Atlantic Division teams, with the aforementioned 12-to-1 for the Lightning, and 16-to-1 for both the Canadiens and Maple Leafs.

The Bruins were given 16-to-1 odds the summer before they won the Cup in 2011.
