The Bruins managed to survive two California games without Torey Krug’s offense.

But with Krug expected to miss at least one more game, the Bruins made a call to the farm for some extra offensive pop added to their backend on Tuesday, with puck-moving defenseman Matt Grzelcyk recalled from the P-Bruins and traveling to New Jersey.

Grzelcyk, always considered the most natural in-house replacement for Krug as a 5-foot-9 defender with a left shot, comes back to the NHL with four assists and 25 shots on goal in 14 AHL games this season. He also reports back to the Big B's on a bit of a hot streak, with five assists and 12 shots in his last six contests for the P-Bruins.

Grzelcyk spent Tuesday’s practice on a pairing with Kevan Miller.

The 23-year-old Grzelcyk has played in one NHL game this season, with two shots on goal and a plus-1 rating in 12:11 of time on ice in the B’s opening night win on Oct. 5.

A Charlestown, Mass. native, Grzelcyk has skated in three NHL games to date.
