President Trump disinvites Steph Curry to White House

President Donald Trump has finally come up with a counter to the pro athletes that have skipped or expressed an interest in skipping championship visits to the White House, officially disinviting Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry to his home.

"Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team," Trump tweeted. "Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!"

Trump’s tweet comes after Curry already said that he didn’t want to go.

“I don't want to go,” Curry said when asked about the possibility of his team visiting the White House to honor their 2017 title. “That's kind of the nucleus of my belief. It's not just me going to the White House. If it was, this would be a short conversation.

“[Not going means] that we don’t stand for basically what our president has — the things that he’s said and the things that he hasn’t said at the right times — that we won’t stand for it,” the 29-year-old Curry continued. “By acting and not going, hopefully that will inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country, what is accepted and what we turn a blind eye toward. It’s not just the act of not going, there are things you have to do in the back end that you have to push that message into motion.”

Curry is not the first Warrior to speak out against Trump, either. Fellow Warrior superstar Kevin Durant just last month said that he would decline the invitation because “I don’t respect who’s in office right now.” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has also been outspoken regarding Trump’s leadership, professionalism, and fit for the office.

Curry has even found support from one of his fierce rivals, as LeBron James took to his own Twitter to chirp back at Trump.

"[You] bum [Steph Curry] already said he ain't going!" James tweeted. "So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!"

Oddly enough, though, Trump is apparently disinviting Curry to nothing, as the Warriors have yet to officially receive an invitation to the White House.

The Warriors do, however, have an open invitation to celebrate and honor their championship on Capitol Hill.
