What does a 7-0 start to your career get you? The biggest contract in NFL history, apparently.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo have agreed to a five-year deal worth $137.5 million, making the former Patriot the highest-paid player ever on a per-year basis.

The Patriots traded the 26-year-old Garoppolo to the 49ers for a second-round pick back on Oct. 31. Garoppolo went 5-0 down the stretch with seven touchdown passes, five interceptions and a 96.2 passer rating. He also won both of his starts for the Patriots in 2016, throwing four touchdown passes and no picks in those games.

The 49ers could've franchise-tagged Garoppolo for next season and put off committing to him on a long-term deal, but clearly they saw enough from him this season that they wanted to lock him up now and guarantee he will be their quarterback for years to come.
