Patriots' Nick Caserio, Monti Ossenfort reportedly expected to receive interest from Texans for GM opening
The Patriots coaches are not the only ones getting interest from other organizations, it's their executives as well.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, external names expected to receive interest for the Texans' GM job are Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio as well as director of college scouting Monti Ossenfort. The Texans have hired a search firm to lead the process. There is the obvious Patriots connection there with Bill O'Brien being head coach.
General manager Rick Smith took an extended leave of absence on Monday to help take care of his wife, Tiffany, who's suffering from breast cancer. The leave of absence is expected to last at least a year.
Other names mentioned are Brian Gaine from the Bills and Brian Gutekunst from the Packers.
