BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Mike Gillislee hasn't played in a game since Week 16 against the Bills when he suffered a knee injury, but he said on Wednesday he's been able to practice in full for the first time this week and has a chance to play in Super Bowl LII against the Eagles.

"That is going to be a game-time decision," he said. "We will have to see. As far as this week, I have been doing what I can.”

Added Gillislee: “As far as health-wise, I am almost there. I am not where I want to be. I have battled a couple of injuries this year, but I was able to be healthy this week enough to practice. That has been great.”

It's likely one running back will be inactive, as the Patriots probably can't go into the game with Dion Lewis, James White, Rex Burkhead and Gillislee all active.

It's been a frustrating season for Gillislee, as he battled a hamstring injury at the start of the season and then a knee injury now. During the middle of the season, he was a healthy inactive for multiple straight weeks just because of how deep the Patriots' backfield is.

“Playing time is something each one of us wanted," he said. "That has always been out of our control. I will tell you this, we’re a family and I have learned so much about just being a man and being part of a group with great guys. We’re a family and after this we’re all going to get together and have fun. We’re brothers.”

After spending the last two years in Buffalo, he was signed by the Patriots last offseason as a restricted free agent. He played in nine games and finished with 104 carries for 383 yards and five touchdowns.

Gillislee admitted the year has been frustrating, but he's just happy to be on a winning team.

“Of course, but at the end of the day I am blessed," he said. "There are a lot of people that wish they could be part of a great group of teammates like this at Super Bowl LII.”
