In a bit of a surprise, it appears Danny Amendola is leaving the Patriots.

According to NFL Media's Dan Hellie, Amendola is expected to sign with the Dolphins.

The 32-year-old is coming off his best season as a Patriot finishing with 61 catches for 659 yards and two touchdowns, but made his biggest impact in the postseason by hauling in 26 passes for 348 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots kept him on a pitch-count throughout the regular season to make sure he was fully ready for the playoffs.

It would appear he will play more with the Dolphins and that is part of what swayed him into leaving New England. It isn't a total shock he's leaving the Patriots, but rather staying in the AFC East.

The contract details will be interesting.

[UPDATE 3:20 p.m.]: Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager reports Amendola's deal is for two years, $12 million with incentives and $8.25 million guaranteed.
