Report: Celtics, Abdel Nader agree to deal

July 14, 2017 - 3:24 pm

The Celtics and Abdel Nader have agreed in principle to a four-year contract worth $6 million, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania‏.

Nader was the was the No. 58 overall selection in the 2016 draft and spent the past season with the Celtics' NBA D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. Nader averaged 21.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists throughout the season, becoming the league’s Rookie of the Year.

In Summer League play, Nader averaged 14.7 points, three rebounds, and one assist in three games in Utah, along with putting up 14 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in his one game in Las Vegas.

With little cap space to work with, the signing of Nader fills the open guard spot in the rotation, left by the recent trade of Avery Bradley to the Pistons.
