Steven Wright was arrested at his home in Tennessee on Friday on charges of domestic assault. The Red Sox pitcher was also charged with prevention of a 911 call. He was released on Dec. 9 on $2,500 bond for each charge. News of the arrest was first reported by WEEI.com's Rob Bradford.

The team addressed the situation in a statement Sunday night.

“We are aware of the incident involving Steven,” the statement reads. “This is certainly a matter that the Red Sox take very seriously. It is my understanding that both local police and MLB are looking into this and for that reason, the club won’t have any further comment at this time.”

Wright’s family also released a statement.
