Watch Brock Osweiler nail a dude in the face with a football

It’s rare when a team’s season can be encapsulated with just one play. But that’s exactly what happened to the Broncos Sunday night against the Patriots, when quarterback Brock Osweiler nailed somebody on the Denver sidelines in the face with an errant throw.

Osweiler, who returned to the Broncos after lowly Browns had released him, is an abysmal quarterback. He’s now 0-2 in Denver and completed just 52 percent of his passes. Osweiler looked competent at times Sunday, but only when he threw to Emmanuel Sanders, who torched Malcolm Butler and caught six passes for 137 yards.

The low point for Osweiler, and the play that will be probably be attached to him for the rest of time, came early in the second quarter. On a 3rd-and-6, Osweiler was facing pressure and decided to throw the ball away. Instead of landing safely on the sidelines, the ball hit an unsuspected bystander.

It was Osweiler’s personal Butt Fumble.

The 3-6 Broncos are last in the AFC West and don’t appear ready for a second half run. If anything, their season will probably only get worse. Denver’s once vaunted defense is now a puddle, surrendering 92 points over the last two weeks. On Sunday, the Broncos were caught with both 10 and 12 men on the field. It was an incredible feat of ineptitude.

And now, thanks to Osweiler, they have their signature lowlight. It’s safe to say Vance Joseph is no longer having the time of his life.
