Washington point guard Markelle Fultz isn't hiding his apparent desire to play for the Celtics.

During a visit Friday to his high school, DeMatha Catholic in Maryland, Fultz was photographed sitting on the hood of Red Auerbach's Mercedes, complete with a Celtics license plate. According to the school's Instagram account, Auerbach left the car as a gift to his nephew Ric MacPherson.

Up until recently, it appeared inevitable that the Celtics would draft Fultz with the No. 1 overall selection next Thursday. In an interview with ESPN last month, Fultz revealed he's talked to Danny Ainge a "few times" and said he thinks he would "fit well" in Boston.

But the Celtics may have their eyes set on somebody else. An anonymous NBA general manager told ESPN's Chad Forde Thursday Ainge will draft Kansas forward Josh Jackson next week. "I've picked [Ainge's> brain for years," the GM said. "Jackson is an Ainge player all the way. Tough, athletic, long, versatile, elite motor. If he's keeping the pick, Jackson just to me, far and away, is the most Celtics-type player for them to draft. From all my conversations with them, I'm convinced they'll take Jackson No. 1."

With that in mind, perhaps Fultz is sending the Celtics a message with this picture. It's hard to turn down somebody who respects Red Auerbach's old ride.
