Isaiah Thomas dunks on Twitter user who slams him for requesting Celtics withhold tribute until he plays in Boston

Isaiah Thomas has requested the Celtics not honor him during pregame introductions when the Cavaliers visit the T.D. Garden Wednesday, because he will not be in the lineup. The point guard is expected to return to the court Tuesday against the Blazers, and take the following night off.

Thomas’ ask seems reasonable, especially because the Cavaliers will also come to Boston in February. But that didn’t stop a Twitter user, Boston freelance hockey writer Jimmy Murphy, from calling Thomas out.

“@isaiahthomas ego may be even bigger than @KingJames! No tribute video? Get over yourself!,” Murphy tweeted.

Minutes later, Thomas responded. “Get over myself huh? Because I would like to actually PLAY & have my family in the arena to appreciate the LOVE the city/organization will show US? It ain’t about me it’s about my family... Ha you get over yourself you dumb***,” he said.

The 5-foot-9 Thomas may not be able to dunk on the court, but he can certainly posterize somebody on Twitter. No word on whether Thomas will be whistled for a flagrant foul after that beating.
