Tom Brady wants to play football until he reaches his mid-40s. But it’s apparent his wife, Gisele Bundchen, has other ideas.

Sports Illustrated’s Greg Bishop recently penned a long profile on Brady that includes an anecdote about Bundchen recruiting one of the quarterback’s longtime friends, kicker Jay Feely, to convince Brady to retire prior to this season.

“Last spring Brady and his family vacationed with retired kicker Jay Feely, a close friend from their college days at Michigan,” Bishop writes. “This being Brady, Feely prefers not to disclose the locale, but he does share that Brady’s wife, the supermodel Gisele Bündchen, spent time on that trip “trying to get me to convince (Tom) to stop playing.” And, Feely adds, “‘she was dead serious.’”

Though Bundchen asked Feely to approach Brady with her request, the ex-kicker says he never presented her case.

“Feely says he looked at his friend and told him, “Play as long as you can.” Brady smiled back and winked,” Bishop writes.

Bundchen caused a stir last year when she said in an interview Brady suffered a concussion in 2017, which was not previously disclosed. When asked about his wife’s claims, Brady did not deny them. "She's there every day. I mean, we go to bed in the same bed every night, so I think she knows when I'm sore, she knows when I'm tired, she knows when I get hit,” he said in July, per NFL Media

With the Patriots trading Jimmy Garoppolo this season, it seems as if Brady will be in New England for years to come. He’s currently in the midst of perhaps his best playoff run ever, completing 67 percent of his passes for 627 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. The Patriots will face off against the Eagles for their sixth Super Bowl title on Feb. 4.
