Michael Holley Renews at WEEI

March 23, 2015 - 3:48 pm

BOSTON – It's official: WEEI afternoon host Michael Holley is in it for the long haul with his veteran partner, Dale Arnold. The station announced Holley signed a new, multi-year contract that will keep the popular duo together in the 2-6 p.m. drive-time shift along with the program's newest addition, Jerry Thornton.

Holley first joined WEEI in 2005 after eight years as a columnist for The Boston Globe and says he believes the show's best days lie ahead. "I'm so grateful to be able to do a job that I love, in a region that I love, speaking and working with people that I love," he said. "There have been so many incredible stories in New England sports the past decade-plus, and I'm excited and humbled that I've been able to share in the journey on the radio. I look forward to many more great shows with Dale, Jerry and our producers Andy Massaua and Ben Kichen."

WEEI Brand Manager Kevin Graham calls Holley a born communicator who offers thoughtful insight and has the natural ability to relate to New England sports fans. "Since Michael was reunited with Dale Arnold in April 2014, along with the recent addition of Jerry Thornton, the Dale and Holley Show has grown its audience more than 35 percent with target male listeners between the ages of 25 and 54." In the February Nielsen Ratings for Boston, the program ranked second (out of 40 rated stations) in its target audience.

Phil Zachary, Entercom Boston VP/Market Manager, says Holley's signing completes a 17-month process of evolving WEEI in all of its digital and analog incarnations. "It's gratifying to now have our entire air staff under contract and inspired to produce world-class content for New England's rabid sports fans," he said. "WEEI is simply one the great brands in radio, and I'm proud to work alongside these gifted professionals in America's most impassioned sports market." Holley's new contract takes effect immediately.
